Canada Day ~ July 1st

It's been awhile since I last posted here as I was working a fair amount, but also because I was hoping to hear some news. I am happy to report, that on July 7th we received Nora's Canadian citizenship in the mail. Yeah!! It was issued on June 9th, but was delayed because of the postal strike. So, as I had hoped, Nora was already a Canadian on her first Canada Day here. Congratulations, Nora!!

I'm relieved to have jumped another hurdle of the adoption/immigration process. Not much paperwork left to complete... just one more report with the social worker in September. We are now free to travel outside of Canada with Nora. (Not that we have any plans, but still!) Here's Nora, our new cutest Canadian, who has issues with keeping barrettes in her bangs. :)

We spent our morning celebrating Nora's friend's first birthday. Nora was outgoing with all the guests, which is always so surprising. We had a lovely time with Megumi's family and friends.

The girls have yet to cooperate with us on a photo together...

What a sweetie!

Later in the evening, we met up with family at our local Chinese restaurant. We celebrated the news that Nana was now a great-grandma!

Richard and Linda, Scott's oldest brother and his sister-in-law, were in town overnight so it was fun to see them. Richard's son, Lucas, and wife Lesley had just welcomed their first child, Liam Richard, into the world the night before. Grandpa Richard was very excited!

My parents joined us as well... it's so fun to all be able to get together.

This was the first time that Linda and Richard had met Nora, so of course we had to take some photos!

Nora's quite fond of her fortune cookie... not quite ready to share with Grandpa.
