After a lovely lunch out in downtown Nanaimo with Lori, and shopping in some very cute stores too, we headed up the familiar drive to Parksville... always a favourite place to be going for me. We were off to meet Auntie Jean and my cousins, Katie and Jayme. (Sadly, I missed seeing Julie, who arrived a few days later...) Jean had graciously offered to have us stay overnight, to complete the rest of our spontaneous weekend getaway! As everyone settled into the amazing condo overlooking Rathtrevor Beach, Nora was quick to acquaint herself with the girls. Did someone say "make-up"?
| Glamorous Katie was glad to give Nora some pointers before heading out for dinner... |
| Look Mom! Why don't you do this for me at home?! |
Driving up to Nanoose Bay, we met the rest of the Johnson clan who were staying together at a resort there. Uncle Paul and Aunt Laura were catching up with their 4 grown children for the week, as well as with the increasing amount of their grandchildren... all so sweet. Tricia and Corinne made some delicious varieties of pizza, which just kept arriving fresh from the oven. I was thankful for the opportunity to join everyone, and Nora was happy to see her second-cousins again. I just love being with family where you just feel so comfortable being together no matter how long it's been since you last got together. Was too short overall, but I take what I can get! :)

| Cousins Matt and Katie, both Calgarians. |
| Jean and Jayme, still proud Saskatchewans! |
| Tricia finds time to sit down ~ awesome dinner!! |
| Corinne just gets more beautiful ~ glad to see her back from Korea. |
| Siblings Matt and Elisa ~ she's expecting baby number 3! :) |
| This is why Paul and Jean are so fun to be around... |
| Cousin Luke, sporting a new look, is always great to see. |
| Life pondered over an Oreo cookie... eat the top first, of course. |
| Exploring the beach ~ Guess who is the fearless leader?! |
| "Grandpa"of course... the biggest kid of them all! |
| We're not sure who is having the most fun ~ actually, we know it's Paul. :) |
| Check out Paul's t-shirt! :) |
| Nora's happy, too. I'm happy then. :) |
| The simple things of life are often the most wondrous. |
| Thankful for one beach evening... it'll keep me going until we're back for longer. |
| How could one not feel peaceful here? |
| Jayme ~ the birthday girl. |
| Why do we have to live so far apart? |
| Happy to be together again~ |
| Birthday blessings to you... |
| Katie brought this cake, frozen, on the plane! |
| Three beauties ~ I just love being around them, so opposite of my life at home. |
And then there was "Sleeping Beauty", tucked nicely onto the sofa, dreaming of all the
fun times with so many girls, including Mommy. If we just vacationed by ourselves all
the time, we wouldn't know the word "conflict" ... at least for a few more years! |
| Sweet dreams~ |

So many comments I could say in response to this post! Like how the similarities between Rob and Uncle Paul extends to T-shirt choices. Or how I hope Izzy and Aiden have as fun a sibling relationship throughout life as Uncle Paul and Auntie Jean have had. How right you are about Corrine getting more and more beautiful. How sweet Katie is to pack a cake for her sister, etc. Most of all, how thankful I am that you got to get away and how thankful I am that we are blessed with such a lovely family. How nice to see each one in the photos! I wish I could have joined you (with just one kid along, too!).
I wish you could have joined us, too. Auntie Jean will need to get a bigger condo next time for us last-minute arrivals! ;) And yes, I am thankful for out extended family too. I hope we can all get together sometime soon. :)
