Refreshment for my soul ~ August 2nd, 2013

Sometimes it is just best to be spontaneous, as well as it being quite fun to do that... Shortly after being back from Kamloops, I was called to see if I would work the following long weekend. I suddenly remembered that I was hoping to go to Vancouver Island somehow during that time to see my extended family, who would be staying in Parksville for the week. I had pretty much given up that it wouldn't work with my scheduled shifts etc. but that phone call from work just kick-started my attempts to plan to get away. Spending time with family and friends beats work anytime... so I was now "unavailable" and committed to going so it wouldn't turn out I was lying! :) My best friend Lori pulled it all together for me, with offering to pick Nora and me up at the ferry terminal in Nanaimo as walk-on passengers. (Yes, Nora had to be part of the plan to make it happen... a definite girls' weekend now.) We stayed overnight with Lori's family Friday night, and she drove us up to Parksville the following day. We had a great time... our first order of business was shopping at Costco for dinner and other treats! :) (It doesn't matter what friends do together, we're laughing all the same. And those free samples are yummy appetizers...)

An after dinner walk at Piper's Lagoon.
Nora was very fond of Peter.
I think he liked her, too. :)
The happy traveler ~ if only we could go to new places making
friends everyday, this girl would never have a bad day.
Posing with Zoe, who was pretty accommodating
of Peter having another "girl" around.
Hmmm... something more interesting up there?
Just can't get them both to focus...
Auntie Lori and Uncle Peter ~ wish we could see you more!
As promised Nora, deer were found nearby in residential
front yards. (We would have had to drive for hours until
we located some to satisfy Nora's curiosity.)
Used to being around big boys, Nora
was excited to explore Adam's music room.
And Adam was a total sweetheart to hang out
with her, letting her play his instruments.
