This past Spring Break we had the opportunity to visit Scott's parents in Arizona. We decided to make it a bit of driving trip to see a few sights along the way to Phoenix, as well as save on the cheaper fares via Allegiant Air, Bellingham to Las Vegas quite late at night. :) As soon as we got it together, got through a difficult time renting a vehicle, then it was off to Flagstaff.

A visit to Hoover Dam was on our to-do list, as it was on the way. It was very impressive, although I was quite distressed that I had to dispose of all of my chocolate bars, candy and gum into the garbage when going through secuity. (I had brought it in my purse as it would've melted in the heat, and those were our treats for the long drive ahead.) And of course, they make you pose for a picture as soon as you pay admission. Here I am smiling when I still felt like crying about my lost chocolate. :(
The dam was as impressive as we had heard, and the tour inside very interesting. Later in the year we saw the movie San Andreas, where the Dam collapses in an earthquake... that looked very realistic once you have seen it "in person." :)

On the lonely drive to Flagstaff... not a lot to see. We will mostly remember this stretch of road as the one where Nora flipped out for an hour about needing the bathroom. Was not pretty...
Getting there late at night was a relief, and we calmed everyone down with take-out pizza. And a bathroom... Tomorrow, the Grand Canyon beckoned!
