Black Belt Graduation ~ July 6th

This annual summer picnic  for taekwondo was extra special as both Thomas and Lewis graduated from their black belt testings earlier in June. Lewis obtained his first degree black belt, and Thomas received his second degree black belt. It was great to see them excited about this, and how they helped their Dad out with setting up for the event. After a great BBQ/picnic, we headed into the gym at Sunshine Ridge Baptist church for the candle ceremony and year-end awards.

"Master Karpiuk" lights each black belt's candle after they enter the gym... a reminder
to be a light as an example of the ideals of taekwondo, but specifically as a Christian.
Lewis has his new belt on...
A hug from a proud Dad!

Second degree students are next... Thomas has become very serious about his martial arts training this past year.

His new belt is tied on...
Master Karpiuk does the final tying on...
 Another proud "Dad" moment!

Meanwhile, I am going slightly crazy trying to keep Nora still and quiet, as well as preventing her from not running out onto the floor to talk to Daddy! I was thankful for help from my friend, Lori. Her son Trey is a great motivating factor for Lewis to attend taekwondo. :)

The students in attendance all gather to make a mini-video message to send to the upcoming World Championships in Little Rock, Arkansas.

 So polite!
 Greetings from WTTU Canada~
Don't try this at home~ Cutting the cake with a sword!
 Best friends.
Nora finally gets Daddy to herself for a few moments.
Great to have Auntie Charlene and Nana attend also.
How many years have I driven these two to taekwondo lessons?!
And how else to finish off a lovely afternoon? With cake, of course.
Congratulations, Thomas and Lewis!

And lastly, some martial arts humour from the girls in the house... a reminder that you can't take yourself too seriously! :) Enjoy...
