Family Time on the Island ~ March 28-29th

After the revolving door of the previous two weeks, with everyone in and out of the home, it was time for all us to have some down time together before Spring Break was over. And what a gift, we had beautiful sunshine the entire time... We had booked three nights at our favourite place in Parksville, Beach Acres, where we have many fond memories of previous trips to this area. The best part now is sharing them with Nora while having new adventures. (She can't recall her last stay here as she was quite little.)

Lewis continues to guide Nora around.
Having fun with the wind blowing...
Views leaving Horseshoe Bay
Scott meditates on the ferry?
Once we settled in, it was time to catch some sun. Nora and I explored the playground area.
The boys had to show their bravado by conquering the play structure...
Then the guys played touch football... the predictions of
having our own team are finally panning out.
Nora preferred to be a cheerleader!
All tuckered out.

A favourite family pose of ours... started with Grandma years ago. :)
The deer nearby seemed unfazed even by the football!
Friday morning we headed down to the beach to see what treasures we could find. This time of year the Brant geese are migrating so are plentiful along the seashore. As we tried to get close to them, we had continual dead-ends from the various tide pools... eventually Nora was unimpressed so we just watched the birds from a distance.
A rare glimpse of me wearing runners!
Exploring Rathtrevor Provincial Park
Lewis has a way of coaxing her,
so eventually she will come around.
Nora has been showing more hesitation
to try new things at times than before...

Scott being a good sport, with allergy season in full bloom suddenly...
Spring is finally here...
We met up with our friends from Nanaimo, Lori, Peter, Adam and Andrew, for a game of mini-golf and dinner out. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of all of us, but we had a great visit. Nora "played" golf too, if you count putting the ball into the hole by hand.

Fun at Riptide Lagoon.
And just to make sure Nora was all worn out, we made a stop at the best children's playground around. (Plus some swimming after that...)

A full day of fun...
Not so scared this time...
Of course, this never happened, right?!
