Family Celebration ~ Aug. 10th, Part 2

Our day continued with family time, as we headed out for a family picnic at Fleetwood Park. Sister Ann, Steve and their kids had just arrived from Winnipeg to visit for the next couple of weeks. Uncle Paul was back from China, with wife Laura in town also, so it was a great time to see our cousins as well.

James drove his motorbike there, to show everyone I'm sure.
Following us there, to get take-out.
Grandpa arrives, our guest of honour.

He made himself at home with the recliner along for the ride.
Luke, Corinne and Steve catch up.
Charles and Margarita- we told him this was as close
to a birthday party as we could get. (on the 19th).
Cousin Kieren, Lewis, Kailey and Abby enjoy the water park.
 Luke and Ann.
Izzy is happy to see Grandpa again.
 Nice to have James there...

Steve keeps him in line. :)
Paul was obliging to give a spontaneous tribute to our parents, who had their recent 50th Anniversay. He shared some funny stories of being around as a younger sibling when they were dating...

He acknowledged the recent challenges they've gone through.
 Surprise, we've a cake for you! Let's have a mini-anniversary celebration!
 With the ten grandchildren together.
 The Newsham extended family
With the extended Johnson Clan... what a blessing!
We missed Tricia and the kids as they were sick. :(
With grandchildren and great-niece Fia and nephews Calum and Trevan.
 Newsham originals.
Kieren shared a monologue she did for school.
 She's not shy!
Cupcakes were passed out to celebrate the summer birthdays. Good wishes for the year ahead!

Great to see Paul at two parties in one day!
 Nora helps out...
Elisa has an August birthday, too.
Elisa's daughter Fia.

 Aunt Laura enjoys baby Trevan.
 Izzy refuels.
You all know I love seeing Paul...
And James is off~ and a good time was had by all. :)

A Beautiful Day~Aug. 10th, Part 1

This much anticipated day cheered us all with the warmth and sunshine that greeted us as we headed out early Sunday morning to participate in Dave and Kelly's wedding. We had never been to Fraser River Heritage Park in Mission before, and it was a gorgeous place to be; definitely not crowded at that time.

The bell just has to be pulled...
The pagoda for the special event.

These floral arrangements were amazing.
 Perfect for a summer wedding.

 Luke played the prelude.
 Tricia helped out too.

Enjoying the panoramic view as we waited for the party to arrive.
Lewis and Thomas took many photos for us. We preferred the ones without the fish-bowl effect...
 Scott officiated the wedding.
 Obliging Lewis for a photo.
The cake was amazing, and was tied in to Dave's love of fishing. He finally "tied the knot" for the best catch of all!!

Nora especially admired the candy rocks.
Too pretty to ever eat this!
 Watching the bride arrive.
Uncle Paul was just back from China.
 The intimate ceremony begins...
Dave's mother shared words from her heart, and on behalf of his father.
 Addressing the groom...
...and the beautiful bride, our friend of  many years.
 Exchanging rings.
An impromptu photo shoot... that bell couldn't be ignore.
Nora is still intrigued by the cake.
Likely asking for a certain piece?
We can pretend Nora was a flower girl, more like a cake girl.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch during their photos, and then of course, that cake!
Yes, these two are related, it's obvious now in looks and how they think. :)
Can you guess who enjoyed the cake the most? (Thanks for the photo, Kelly!)
And one last view of those gorgeous flowers as we ended a lovely afternoon.
Wishing you two many years ahead, on a bicycle built for two, or in a car, or wherever you are!
CONGRATULATIONS!!
